For me it all started with getting a ‘Grandstand Astro Wars’ for xmas 1981, since then I have never stopped playing video games.

So happy; this guy is Doom to me. Hero of mine. Buzzing. The IT skills I gained, modding his games helped me in my career, and was a massive contributor to our family’s lifestyle, and now I help others; the dude is incredible; I owe him. And he is such a nice guy. He is bloody John Romero, #PLAYExpo
It was such a big deal for me, and I loved that Luke was with me to share. The ID guys are an inspiration to us all. Delivery the best you can do, making it what you want and it’s not just about the end product, but the ride/journey to the product. Enjoy what you do!
Ready for Retro, on route to PLAY Expo Blackpool #PLAYexpo with Luke. We want to check out some arcades pinballs and hope to meet the Legendary John Romero (Doom Guy). My fingers crossed that they have a Jurassic park and Godzilla pin, as I want to know what Luke thinks of them. We aim to buy our first Pin in the next few weeks.
I bought a fruit machine at a reasonable price, and it was in great condition. Later, I invited Melv over and told him I had a surprise for him. When he arrived, he was thrilled to see the fruit machine and didn’t want to leave.
The Treasure Island Jackpots machine has many different features and multiple ways to win. It’s very entertaining for a fruit machine, although I’ve never been too interested in them, preferring Space Invaders and Centipede. Nonetheless, it was a great purchase, and seeing Melv’s face light up was a classic moment.

Added a few great titles to the collection, some real gems. I remember seeing this advertised in the gaming mags; love the artwork on the tape boxes. Full Throttle was one of my favourite games for the speccy
I am really impressed with the ZX-HD interface; the games look great, IMO. i wanted to compare a ZX Spectrum connected to the TV via RGB with a ZX Spectrum connected to a monitor via HDMI using the ZX-HD interface. This would allow me to remove the TV on my main gaming desk, giving me more room.
Note I didn’t optimise the visual settings on my monitor, so I bet I could get it looking even better. But I am so happy with it as is. Deffo will remove the TV.

2023, this is the very first time playing on the original MSX Hardware; back in 1984, I was only 15 and getting an MSX was just a dream. So what game do i pick to test it, it had to be Manic Miner. Let’s see what the extra few K give the MSX compared to the ZX Spectrum version.
The Hardware is working all fine, and the tape loaded in with no issues, it did take some time to load. But I think it was comparable with the ZX Spectrum (i choose to have the loading noises on, I don’t think the family appreciated that on an early Sunday morning :-)
The classic game still makes me want to play it, i am only connected to the TV using an RF lead, so the picture isn’t great, but it’s okay.
Holy molly,
BUILT IN LANGUAGE, Microsoft Extended Basic (MSX Basic V1.0) – I didn’t know it used a Microsoft OS 9cut down version of MS Basic)
Also, look at how things have changed in gaming. I noticed on the cassette that they asked if people had written a good game and wanted it marketed. :-)

I waited a while for this, and in the end, had to buy the ‘ZX-HD’ and ‘Raspberry PI zero’ separately. This meant i had to fit the boards together, including soldering a header. I wasn’t looking forward to doing that as my soldering skills are non-existent. I get by, JUST. Thankfully although tricky and some ‘shit have a burnt the board’ moments, it works. A massive smile on my face.
From what I read and watched, it allows connecting to HDMI and does a fantastic job. The best way atm so can connect to recent monitors/tv with amazing quality picture.
Some classic games for the collection. I still remember seeing these advertised. I love the artwork on the tapes. Daley Thompsons Decathlon is the joystick breaker. I played this so much with my mates. I loved it, and I have great memories (Den, Terry, Rich) Transylvanian Tower, I used to see this advertised all the time in the games mag. The image takes me back to the 80s. Don’t think I ever played it, but again love the artwork. Space Raiders, one of the first games I had for the Spectrum, was just like I was at the arcades (Sunspot in Hull)
