    Action Action Action

Just picked up four action games from the local blockbusters, not bad going for just £20 (I thought). As a treat for father’s day, my children told me that I was allowed to visit some game shops today

Alpha Protocol – I have been interested in this since I first saw a preview yrs ago, always thought the idea was cool. However poor reviews and peoples experience of the game put me off. Excited to give it a try now. Also I have heard a couple some positive vibes regarding the game from a couple of my fav pod-casts (Gameburst, Caine & Rinse).

007 Quantum of Solace – wasn’t that bothered really about this. But after been away by how much I enjoyed  ‘Blood Stone’ I have wanted to give this a try. Heard it not as good, but hopefully enjoyable action game.

The Bourne Conspiracy – again positive feedback from several podcast hosts, and really enjoy the movies so hoping the story and game play keep me entertained.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 – enjoyed the original and spent hours playing multiplayer, not sure why I never ever got this sequel. But I know I will enjoy it, also some cool multiplayer sessions still ongoing to looking forward to giving this a blast (wonder if I can use kinect camera with it as it has character face imaging feature)

  • Everything Alien

    Everything Alien

So I am still so in the Alien zone after watching Prometheus and Alien, I just picked up a copy of Aliens vs Predator for the 360. its Marine Baby…..

This is FPS by Rebellion and published by Segaaaaaaaaaa
I did play the pc version yrs ago and fully enjoyed it, thought the alien levels was pretty original. so hopeful for this one. Love the sound of the gun and the tracker, hope they have licensed the real sound effects.

    Family’s Game Room -Video

Video of the family’s games room which has a mix of current and retro game systems, all systems connected and ready for play.
My wife and our daughters use the room mainly to play Kinect (dance central, sports), my son uses it as his main video gaming room, that’s his xbox360 and skylanders figures. I use the room mainly to play coop with my son and to have a blast on the older games machines.

  • Mass Effect 3, main story completed

Background – I found Mass Effect 1 so boring, my biggest gaming disappointment this gen. Whereas Mass Effect 2 I adored, loved the combat, the characters and the story. It grip me right until the end. Was such an epic experience. My only complaint would be that I would have preferred it if they had left in item management. This was simplified too much for my taste.

Mass Effect 3, I was so looking forward to this. anyways after about a good 25+ hrs I have completed the main story line. I struggled with the game from the start, it just wasn’t grabbing me. Think it was to do with the characters and story, I didn’t care for what was happening and to whom. So a very average beginning and middle, however thankfully it did pick up for me about two thirds in, and got ‘great’ towards the end.
I thought the visuals were not consistent, at times they was nice, at times quite dull and ugly. The sounds/music fantastic and was amazing on dolby digital system. I had a great time with the special skills. Weapons felt great and had some weight to them, and they all felt different. Disk Swapping was tedious (even though I installed to hard drive) The controls, holy crap the worst thing about the game. I always found myself attaching to cover whenever I didn’t want to and it was the main reason for many of my deaths, it became so frustrating at times, I even screamed at the TV (I don’t remember ME2 ever having such a problem).

To sum it up, a good game but I was hoping for more, but did really enjoy the last third. We don’t seem to be having much luck with the third instalments of games for this gen, seems like everyone is just treading water and delivering ‘average’, playing it to safe. (looking at you Uncharted 3, Halo3, Gears 3)

Still looking forward to what they produce next, as maybe not up to the bar set by Mass Effect 2. But still better than most.
