ZX-HD HDMI Interface comparison with RGB connection

I am really impressed with the ZX-HD interface; the games look great, IMO. i wanted to compare a ZX Spectrum connected to the TV via RGB with a ZX Spectrum connected to a monitor via HDMI using the ZX-HD interface. This would allow me to remove the TV on my main gaming desk, giving me more room.

Note I didn’t optimise the visual settings on my monitor, so I bet I could get it looking even better. But I am so happy with it as is. Deffo will remove the TV.

    Details;
    – connected to the TV via RGB Scart Video Cable TV Lead (Retro Computer Shack)
    – connected to the monitor via a ZX-HD HDMI Interface (Bytedelight)
    – using a DivMMC Enjoy! PRO for media loading.(Bytedelight) Sinclair ZX Spectrum Retro Gaming Retro Computing

  • ZX-HD ZX Spectrum, finally

    ZX-HD ZX Spectrum, finally

I waited a while for this, and in the end, had to buy the ‘ZX-HD’ and ‘Raspberry PI zero’ separately. This meant i had to fit the boards together, including soldering a header. I wasn’t looking forward to doing that as my soldering skills are non-existent. I get by, JUST.
Thankfully although tricky and some ‘shit have a burnt the board’ moments, it works. A massive smile on my face.

From what I read and watched, it allows connecting to HDMI and does a fantastic job. The best way atm so can connect to recent monitors/tv with amazing quality picture.

ZX Spectrum, some classic games for the collection. I remember seeing these in the mags.

Some classic games for the collection. I still remember seeing these advertised. I love the artwork on the tapes.
Daley Thompsons Decathlon is the joystick breaker. I played this so much with my mates. I loved it, and I have great memories (Den, Terry, Rich)
Transylvanian Tower, I used to see this advertised all the time in the games mag. The image takes me back to the 80s. Don’t think I ever played it, but again love the artwork.
Space Raiders, one of the first games I had for the Spectrum, was just like I was at the arcades (Sunspot in Hull)

  • DivMMC Future, ZXSPECTRUM

    DivMMC Future, ZXSPECTRUM

Swapped out my current ZX Spectrum SD Card loader device for this DivMMC. It’s truly a “plug and play” SD card device for the ZX Spectrum. Load any game instantly!
Everything up to now I have tried has worked (I did have to do some tweaks for some early Ultimate Games). It’s straightforward to use and quick to set up. I am really impressed.
Spent a few hrs trying out loads of my favourites today, and these games still hold up today. And looking really good on the original hardware.

Using a Scart converter lead for the TV, DivMMC for loading

Yes, so happy. Finally, after looking for years. I managed to get this with a front cover intact. Sinclair Programs November 1984. I programmed Coal Collector when I was 14yrs old using Sinclair basic. I called it Percy and the Picketts; it was during the miner strike. I got £10 for it

Another Rubber Keyboard Wonder for the Collection

More retro for the collection, these machines are getting harder to get in good quality. Can’t beat the rubber keyboard, iconic. #RETROGAMING #RetroComputing #ZXSpectrum
Thought it would be wise that, although I have a few different versions of the ZX Spectrum (including the rubber one), that I get a copy more Rubber Keyboard versions
