The complete list is here; https://www.giantbomb.com/profile/zxspectrum/lists/top-games-i-played-2013/86679/

    1. Destiny

Destiny, The Taken King. Kings-fall raid, Sparrow racing, Iron Banner. what a year I had on Destiny. managed to get to light level 310, completed the raid a number of times and even managed to part do in hard mode and complete 4/5 raid challenges.

    2. ArmA III

EPOCH mod, played this for months with the cult guys. Every Tuesday night for half the year. This is why I love PC Gaming, the mod is so brilliant. RPG, base-building, Survivor and shooting (although I do wish they would improve the aiming and hit detection) I hope this continues to iterate on this, as it has so much potential.

    3. DayZ

carrying on from 2014, awesome nights with Chris, Jim, John and Steve. so the question is. Will a major update drag us back in :)

    4. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

EPIC< must play game. Really enjoyed the world and the characters, also some of the stories lines are the best their is. Beautiful environment, hoping to play it through again.

So felt like Red Dead, also the Bloody Barren quest line is awesome and one of the best stories I have played in a game, the emotions you feel for the main characters as the story unfolds, moves, goes upside down and in and out :)

    5. Bloodborne

Faster and more action than Souls, had a blast and did overs 40 hrs. But looking back, although great, think i prefer the souls.

    6. Rare Replay

haven’t had much time on it, YET

but wow. Underwurlde, Jetpac, Atic Atac, Nuts and Bolts must be the best compilation ever

No idea why Rare arnt the biggest software house in the world, or yes i do, because microsoft got them making silly avatars and not games.

Looking forward to what this come up with this year.

    7. Rock Boshers DX

Everything the developer does i adore has the charm and addictiveness of a classic zxspectrum game. Awesome music, as expected hard as nails.

    8. Fallout 4

only 40 hrs in, so just toughed the surface really. Surprise for me asa i really didn’t get on with 3 or New Vegas. But this one hooked from within 10mins. I really enjoying the base-building. and the shooting is solid. My only minor issue, the character models could have been better, the base building needed a goal in the game and the AI of the enemy could have been improved.

But although it has its flaws, I really enjoying it. Had some epic moments, so really what else do it need. also Dogmeat all the time as a companion

    9. Rocket League

What a surprise hit, and a great freebie from Sony. I watched more games than i played, as it was a favourite for Luke and his friends. Many times, kicking me off the ps4 to play on it (can’t wait for it to be released on Xbone, so the kids can play it themselves :)

    10. Evolve

really enjoyed the sessions we had and had some epic moments. Was fun watching how close people was to the monster in the replay afterwards. All the cult loved it, not sure why we stopped playing it.

I think the leveling system wasn’t well thought through and the maps, although extremely pretty. think they could have been improved with my variety

remember one match, John laughing so much as they chased me as the monster. Firing a tracking dart in my backside, and Steve poisoning some of the animals so as I ate them to evolve, they could see my on their maps. The tinker.
    11. Sine Mora
    12. Alien: Isolation

    13. The Unfinished Swan

Maybe a bit late to the party, but fully enjoyed my time with the game

    14. Pure Pool

had a few good night sessions with my mate Kevin, was good to way to catch up as we both live quite far from each other
    15. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
    16. Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender
    17. Payday 2
    18. Evolve

    31. Zoo Tycoon

    32. Driveclub

nice racer, but not arcade enough for me to enjoy or spend time with

    33. Transistor

thought this would be good as it came from a good developer, but it wasnt. sad

    34. Halo 5: Guardians

what have you done 343, now just a average game/ sad timessss

  • Top Games I Played 2014

    Top Games I Played 2014

List of the games which I enjoyed in 2014, regardless if they weren’t released in 2014.

I haven’t played several of the key 2014 titles as of yet, mainly because I spent majority of my gaming time on a few PC multiplayer titles, retro games or older PC titles on my PS4 and Vita. Overall I feel it’s been a strong year, a great start for the new consoles, although the PC does seem to be where I spend a lot of my time. Now that I have the PC attached to my big TV in the lounge and the PS4 controller makes for an ideal PC gaming pad, I predict even more PC gaming in 2015.

I have had to spend more time in London for work (still amazes me how little people smile on the tube, and general down south), so my PSVita has had a lot of love. I also came to a conclusion in 2014, that tablet gaming is just not for me. I find the games lack a soul; they just don’t keep my attention. Think I need a controller.

I picked up a XBONE towards the end of the year, and YES I prefer the PS4. But it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, the UI wasn’t as poor as what I remember it was at launch. So well done MS for its much needed updates, and I am hopeful that they continue to improve it. Competition, a strong Microsoft and Sony is good for all gaming, and hopefully will keep everyone trying harder and take much needed risks. I am a bit concerned that Sony has slowed down some, and maybe taking things for granted, fingers crossed they aren’t going back to ‘BIG HEADED SONY’.

Luke Luke Luke, loving all the gaming time I am having with Luke. More and more he beats me, he is mad for Fifa Ultimate team and Minecraft. I even setup and now host a Minecraft server for him and his mates, with mods installed that they picked. It’s fantastic to see him enjoying the medium so much, and not spending too much time watching crap TV. Teaching him modding, talking about gaming with him, love it.  And it does make me smile, listening to him talking to his friends online, whilst playing an online game, and watching a gaming video on Youtube.

He wants a PS4, let’s see what happens. It is sad (maybe sign of the times) that both he and his mates have no interest in the WiiU. I think he and his mates have spent more time on my Mame Cabinet, than they have on the wiiU (which is just next to his console in the games rooms), NInty needs to do something, even mariokart couldn’t hold their attention for to long, back to Minecraft, Fifa and Garden Warfare they went.

A complete listing of my favorite games of 2014 is over on GiantBomb, including a few words about each, do check it out

The complete list is here; https://www.giantbomb.com/profile/zxspectrum/lists/top-games-i-played-2013/86679/

    1. Dark Souls

Still playing this so much, 150+ hrs on Xbox360. 90+ hrs on PC. Completed on both and had a great online invading time on PC. Adore this game

    2. Tomb Raider

PC, great game. Looked amazing and played really well. Dare I say, its higher on my list than Bioshock Infinite

    3. Left 4 Dead 2

The switch to spending more time on PC and my back catalog continues. Went back to L4D2, with coop sessions with Chris. Amazing game, never ages. Valve, still one of my fav developers

    4. Resogun

It may seem strange that a old school shmup was one of the main reasons I NEEDED A PS4. But I knew from the pre release videos that this was just made for me.

It plays so well, looks amazing and has alot of layers to the gameplay. I think the leader-board chasing mechanics could have been implemented a bit better. BUT FOR ME, A SYSTEM SELLER

    5. BioShock Infinite

PC, Great game. Adored the story and characters. The gameplay was average. I enjoy old school shooters but was surprised just how traditional this felt. Didn’t seem to advance the gameplay in any way, but still had fun. A lot of shooting

The end stage was massive let down, i dont think it played well. Also didn’t enjoy the traveling or shooting on the rails.

The character designs, Moments, World was totally magical

    6. Rogue Legacy

    PC

    7. Grand Theft Auto V

PS3, enjoying it a lot more than 4. Online is weird, but good. Tends to have massive High and Lows

    8. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

    PC,

    9. Killzone: Shadow Fall

Sometimes I feel like I am in Bladerunner. Solid, Fun FPS. I like the use of the robot buddy, made some cool strategies for completing the levels. THE VISUALS, WOWWWWW . its sounds breathtaking on my 5.1 system

    10. Alien Breed: Impact

Picked it up in a Steam sale, great update from the original. The game-play is still solid, and the atmosphere the game creates is as good as any movie in this genre.

    11. Clash of Clan

the only mobile game i put any time in, enjoyed it because i was playing it with my son. Watching him understand the mechanics and learn how to progress was a treat. I found the game itself pretty basic, but if was and is still a fun time filler

    12. FIFA Soccer 13

Xbox360, begun having more gaming nights (soccer nights) Fifa and Sensible Soccer YESSSS

    13. Sid Meier’s Civilization V: Gods & Kings

PC, had to spend more time in London. Civ was was train commute game of choice
